FLOURAE & CO

Thank you for taking the time to drop by and be interested in getting to know more about Flourae And Co. First off, please allow me to feed you a little about Flourae and co before sharing the story of how I venture my baking journey. :)

Flourae & co (Pronounced Flaa-eh), is a baking studio that specializing in creating personalized buttercream flower cakes/cupcakes for special events such as birthdays, corporate functions, and any other reason you can think of to have a glamorous flower cake at your party. As the team grows, new recipe and different type of cakes are gradually incorporating into our menu to cater to the masses.

Apart from making cakes for different occasions, Flourae and co also enjoyed sharing knowledge and skills by conducting buttercream flower piping lessons.

Hi, my name is sherny.

I am the owner/baker/cake decorator behind Flourae and co (Formerly known as Sherny Patisserie), I am also a self-taught baking enthusiast who growing up enjoyed baking a lot. It was initially a casual hobby, then slowly it grows as a passion, and now, sharing the love I have for baking around has proudly become my daily duty!

I love baking, but my baking intention was pretty lame back then, lol. (Trust me, cake pre-mixes and topping creams were the only ingredients I know about baking). I was merely all about the cake-making and decorating process honestly. Of course, I do love my baked goods too, but it's just not as much as I loved making it. This practice had been going on for a while until one certain day dating back to 2015 when my friend's mother offered me a slice of marble cake that she specially baked out of hospitality. Holly molly yall, it was the most delectable cake I've ever had, and I was completely fascinated by it! It was the immediate affection that made me realized the importance of using fine ingredients, and baking the cakes from scratch = making every stroke and batter to perfection! I am even more certain of what I yearn after when I discovered the Korean Buttercream Flower. Since then, both baking and making a beautiful cake have thoroughly become that particular thing that’s keeping me right off to the deep end.

In 2017, I founded Sherny Patisserie as a platform to showcase my buttercream flower crafts (at this point of time it was only my side career). It's all started with one hand-mixer and one 52L oven in a 78 sqft guest room that I resolutely turned into my “dream baking studio". If I were to be honest, that room was so packed and hot especially when the oven's running, I don’t know how I went through those impracticable days, but thinking about it today, those were actually the essence of my baking journey...:’D

It was a pretty rough year dealing with the conflict between heart and mind, but I was really caught up with making beautiful flower cakes, I don’t think I’ve ever worked so hard for something else before. Seeing how far the snowball I had rolled, I've finally decided to go down the path and fully commit myself to Sherny Patisserie. The first thing I had figured out as a full-time baker, was to fly myself home from the city where I thought I would take root forever lol (because never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I could escape from reality and independently make choices for my life so soon, so why not?)... Then fast forward to 4 months of store searching, open my first baking studio in Plaza 333, had the name Sherny Patisserie changed to Flourae and co, encounter thousand of sleepless night rushing order in the studio, bought a house on our third anniversary (also when Covid-19 striked), struggling in business crisis, decided to terminate the rental lease... And the rest of the stories are history. Now that I don't have a shop, every bit during that time is the memory I cherish the most. I am even happier to work from home for my working flexibility and gradually enjoy the benefits of being a home baker. :))

I am always grateful that I am able to transform my interest into a full-time career, how blessed I am to have a job so gratifying. Regardless of all the caking stuff, I've met many like-minded friends from all walks of life along the same path too... Interestingly enough, who would have ever thought a marble cake baked by a friend’s mother out of her interest would thusly become the turning point of my life? Well, the world is never predictable, someday everything makes perfect sense, and someday it just don't. Anyway, if you are struggling with life choices as you're reading this now, do not be afraid to open up to any potential possibility, because it's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock! :)

I hope by telling the tale of my venture here, in return, I am able to inspire you to do anything you're desire, even in the smallest way. :) Laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason! <3
